At the Institute of Geodesy, we are dedicated to research and education in precise GNSS-based positioning and navigation, terrestrial gravimetry, and geoid determination. We also focus on modeling mass variations within the Earth system. We take great pride in our analysis of lunar laser measurements. Currently, we are placing increased emphasis on developing innovative measurement concepts for gravity field determination, in close collaboration with experts in physics.

New chairman of professional society ESRA

The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy congratulates Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Beer: The European Safety and Reliability Association (ESRA) elected the head of the Institute for Risk and Reliability (IRZ) as chairman on August 29, 2022. The term of office is two years.

ESRA promotes scientific and also industrial developments in risk and reliability research. With 30 technical committees, it is Europe''s most important organisation in this field.

The annual European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL) is an international conference under the auspices of the ESRA and was held in Dublin from August 28 to September 1, 2022. ESREL 2019 was hosted by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Beer and his team in Hannover.
